It works; instructions must be followed exactly.
It works. I expect to have to redo certain areas as new weeds push through. Follow the instructions exactly & you can't go wrong. Hold it, switch it on from off to 1st setting then 2nd, & wait 45 seconds before aiming it at weeds. I used the small nozzle first. Must wait until it cools before switching nozzles - don't remember how long it took to cool as I just went off & did something else.
Most small weeds needed 5-10 seconds of heat. Some tougher ones needed seconds max. If I lingered longer more I could see smoke & so I moved it quickly away before it singed the plants.
It's quite lightweight considering what it does, & it's easy to assemble & use.
It clearly needs an extension lead - one thick enough for the current or it'll get hot (as my first one did; fortunately I had a thicker one to hand). A longer lead incorporated or an extension included (other devices such as my plug in pest repeller had a 10 metre lead included, so why doesn't this, I want to ask the manufacturer) would have allowed me to have given 5 stars. I bought a returned one for about £10 lower than the usual price & it's worth that. I suppose I would have bought it for the full price eventually, if I hadn't seen the offer, as there are cheaper ones out there but they didn't seem as good. The incorporated stand that allows easy risk reducing cooling is invaluable!
